Beauty and efficiency. A few tips to improve the efficiency of your decorative radiator.

While it is true that what strikes us most about a decorative radiator is its design and appearance, we cannot forget that once it is installed in the home or workplace, its main function will be to heat.

Keeping your radiator efficient is important in order to reduce energy waste, with a view to saving money but also to environmental sustainability.

First of all: does the choice of model or finish have an impact on the efficiency of a radiator?

Generally speaking, a model with elements is more efficient than a single-plate model, because the exchange surface with the outside is greater, and shiny, light surfaces conduct less heat than dark, matt ones. However, these differences are quite insignificant: the advice is rather to choose a radiator that suits our tastes and the style of our environment, and to use it in a way that will maximise its output.

First of all, its location is important: a radiator installed next to a door will tend to disperse heat, especially if the room faces a colder environment, such as an aisle or a hallway.

Cleaning is then fundamental: it is important to dust it regularly with an antistatic cloth, even in the most hidden parts, in order to remove the dust that builds up over time and which can hinder heat transmission.

The need for deeper cleaning will then depend on the type of room: for example a radiator installed in a kitchen will need more attention than one installed in a bedroom. Also in this case, it will be sufficient to wipe with a damp cloth, possibly warm, avoiding to use of detergents which can damage the paint.

However, if you want to maximise the efficiency of your radiator, the most important thing is not to cover it! It is essential, of course, not to place furniture or desks that might limit its action, but we must pay attention to towel loads when the radiator is used as a towel warmer.

A small, well-folded towel will not make much difference, but in the case of bathrobes or large towels, it’s better to use one of the special accessories provided for example in the Way line; they will allow air circulation whilst removing moisture from clothes and fabrics they hold.

Above all, they are the perfect stylish complement to your Way by Lazzarini design element!
